This page covers the current BeatPass download flow for standard track downloads. It explains who can download, what happens after you click Download, and when a license certificate becomes available.
Standard downloads require an eligible signed-in account. Exclusive checkout is covered separately in Purchasing Exclusive.

Before you click Download

BeatPass checks several things before it lets a download start.

Standard access rules

  • You must be signed in
  • Your account must have download access
  • Your subscription cannot be overdue
  • The track must still be available for non-exclusive download

Important exceptions

  • Track owners can download their own tracks
  • Exclusive buyers can still download the track they purchased
  • If a track has been sold exclusively, new non-exclusive downloads are blocked
  • If a track is exclusive-only and you have not purchased it, standard download is not available

The current download flow

1

Open the download modal

Click Download on an eligible track. BeatPass opens the pre-download confirmation modal.
2

Confirm the download

Use the Download action in the modal to start the file download to your device.
3

BeatPass checks access again

The app confirms that your account is still allowed to download the track. If your subscription is overdue or the track is no longer eligible, the download is blocked.
4

The track file downloads

BeatPass downloads the local track file. Producers downloading their own tracks do not need a generated license for that step.
5

License follow-up may appear

If you are a signed-in non-owner and the track fingerprint is completed, BeatPass can open a post-download license modal so you can view an existing certificate or use Get License when available.

What happens with licenses

If you already have an active license

The post-download flow can show License Already Available and send you to https://open.beatpass.ca/library/licenses.
BeatPass attempts to reuse or generate the right license in the background. If the license is ready and the track fingerprint is completed, the Get License flow can open it.
The track can still download, but certificate access may not be ready. This is why downloads are not the same thing as certificate availability.

Where to find your licenses

Use Library -> Licenses in the app:
  • App page: https://open.beatpass.ca/library/licenses
  • Search supports track name, artist name, licensee name, or license ID
  • If you own tracks, the page can also show licenses granted to other users for your catalog
From that page you can:
  • Open the printable certificate view
  • Use Verify License
  • Search across your license history

Track availability rules

Track stateWhat it means for standard downloads
Non-exclusive onlyStandard download can be allowed if your account has access
BothStandard download can still be allowed unless the track has been sold exclusively
Exclusive onlyNo standard download unless you are the owner or purchaser
SoldNo new standard downloads for other users

Troubleshooting

Download button is disabled or blocked

Check that you are signed in, your account still has download access, your subscription is not overdue, and the track has not been sold exclusively.
Check Library -> Licenses first. If the track fingerprint is still incomplete, the certificate view may not be ready yet even though the download succeeded.
BeatPass blocks downloads for overdue subscriptions. Resolve the billing issue before trying again.
Owners can download their own tracks without generating a standard license certificate.
