Basic metadata covers the part of the track form that listeners understand first: the title, description, credited producers, and collection assignment.

Track Name

The track name is required on new uploads and appears anywhere BeatPass shows the beat publicly.

Best Practices

BeatPass validates track titles. Avoid filenames, version clutter, and titles that look like raw exports.
Strong titles are easier to search for, share, and recognize later.
If your catalog uses a naming style, keep it consistent across releases.

Description

The description is optional, but it helps explain the beat quickly. Useful description ideas:
  • Mood or energy
  • Artist fit
  • Production highlights
  • Release context
Keep it practical and readable instead of stuffing keywords.

Artists

The Artists field controls which producers are credited on the beat. BeatPass requires at least one credited producer on new tracks.

Current Behavior

  • Your producer profile is the natural starting point
  • You can add collaborators through the artist picker
  • Credited producers affect where the beat appears and how BeatPass contribution is shared
See Collaborations for the current collaboration rules.

Collection / Album

The current track form uses the field label Collection/Album. Use it when:
  • The beat belongs in an existing collection
  • You are organizing a pack or project release
  • You want the beat grouped with related tracks
If you are building a brand-new release from scratch, the upload page’s Create Collection flow is often easier than adding tracks one by one later.
Cover art is not part of the Basic Info section, but it is still required before a new track can be saved. Do not treat title and artist fields as the only required metadata.

Add BPM, key, and scale.
